James (Jim/JC) Curtis Yarnell, 80, Arnold, Maryland, died January 25, 2022. He was born August 14, 1941, in Cambridge, Ohio, to Wilmer and Dorothy (Kays) Yarnell. He was the elder brother to three brothers and two sisters. James graduated from Forest Park High School, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1959.

James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda (Burkhart). The couple was married November 19, 1966, in Baltimore, Maryland. He leaves behind his children Amy Rubin, her husband, Steven, Woody Yarnell, his wife Janet, and his two grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.

James served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 in Ansbach, Germany. He worked as a Field Office Manager for Babcock and Wilcox Construction Company from 1971 until his retirement in 2009. His life centered around his family and a love of learning. He participated with the Girl Scouts for four years and was a dedicated Severna Park High School Band Dad for six years.

James loved reading, traveling, photography, national parks, the Smithsonian Institution, and model railroading. He was a member of the Severna Park Model Railroad club for more than two decades. He involved his family in his hobbies whenever he could, and taught life lessons at every opportunity.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday February 5, 2022 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.
