James Weaverling

James B. Weaverling, 87, of Arnold, died of cancer May 9 at his home after a 13-year illness.

Mr. Weaverling was a master mechanic and motor inspector at Brandywine Sand and Gravel.

Born in Everett, Pa., on Sept. 20, 1919, he served in the Army during World War II in both England and France, and during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1951. His interests included hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, the former Peggy Jones whom he married on April 15, 1944; two sons, Gerald and Roger Weaverling, and one daughter, Dawn Weaverling, all of Arnold; two sisters, Anita Jones and Ruth Vanek, both of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
