James B. Sutherland, 83, a 49 yr. resident of Severna Park, died December 19, 2011 at his home surrounded by his wife and children, of complication from Alzheimer's.

Born November 7, 1928 in Glen Burnie, MD to the late Elizabeth Wisner and James Sutherland.
James attended Glen Burnie High School and served in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge # 622 and the Masonic Lodge # 213.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, electronics, and being with his family, friends and church friends.

He was preceded in death by son Randolph. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Grace Homens Sutherland; one daughter, India Katherine Sutherland and her husband George Maloney of Severna Park; six sons, James "Blake" III, Stewart, William, Ralph, David and his wife Donna, Douglas, and daughter-in-law, Donna, all of Maryland; thirteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Jenkins Memorial Church, 133 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, MD 21122. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
