James Lawrence Schatz passed away on February 9, 2024.

He was born on February 19th 1939 to George Lawrence Schatz and Dorothy Cecilia (née French) Schatz. He was a native of Maryland, who grew up in Catonsville.

He received his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Loyola College of Baltimore in 1960. He received his doctorate in Dentistry from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dental School, University of Maryland in 1964. He was drafted during the Vietnam war and served a 2 year tour of duty in the US Army Dental Corp before returning to Severna Park in 1968.

He loved sports, Maryland Basketball, and the Orioles. He was a lifelong dentist in Severna Park.

He is survived by his daughters and their families; Jane Bodnar and her husband William of Upper Saddle River, NJ and their children Will, Jack, and Caroline; Susan Streaker and her husband William of Ft. Myers, FL and their daughters Lily and Cecilia; Katharine Marriner and her husband Thomas of Severna Park, MD and their children Georgia, Anna Louise, Charlotte, and Henry.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 4 - 7 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church of Annapolis: 109 Duke of Gloucester St Annapolis, MD 21401.

Interment will be held privately at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
