James H. Pleasant, 79, a resident of Glen Burnie, died on November 1, 2010 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.
He was born on November 16, 1930 in North Carolina, raised in Raleigh, and has lived the past 55 + years in the Anne Arundel County area and served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Portsmouth and Annapolis, MD.
Mr. Pleasant was an Allstate Insurance Agent for 38 years and was one of the top producers of the company.
James was a member of the Bay Hills Golf Club and was a past Exalted Ruler of the Broadneck Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and boating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Pleasant and his daughter, JoAnne Pleasant.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. Pleasant of Glen Burnie; his daughter, Mary Jayne Pleasant of Arnold; his sons, James P. Pleasant (Brenda) of Glen Burnie, Joseph T. Pleasant (Lonnie) of North East, MD, William R. Pleasant (Kimberly) of Severna Park; sister, JoAnne Stegall of Roanoke, VA; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Family and friends may visit from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. There will be a Funeral Service on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
