James Weston O'Brien, Jr. of Severna Park died on December 3, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center with his family by his side.

Jim was born on August 8, 1948 in Upper New York State and was raised in Levittown, NY and Fairfax, VA. He received a Bachelors of Science in Biology from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

For several years Jim worked as a flight instructor at Suburban Airport before becoming an Air Traffic Controller at Dulles International Airport and then at Baltimore Washington International Airport. After retiring from the FAA, he worked at the Anne Arundel County 911 Center as an emergency call taker.

Jim took great pride in his family & home and had deep love for animals, especially Dobermans. His favorite vacations were on the beaches of South Nags Head with his beloved dog by his side. His love of animals extended to his being a generous contributor to animal rescue organizations.

Jim was the beloved husband of Tobe S. O'Brien, father of William J. Millar, Elizabeth M. Andrews and Charlotte K. Weinstein and grandfather of four grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Friday, December 7, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Services and Burial will be Private.
