James G. Llewellyn of Severna Park, Maryland died at home Monday, December 20, 2010 after a short illness.
Born in Moscow, Maryland on January 18, 1928 to John and Sophia Llewellyn, Jim was an avid participant in many sports and joined the Army Air Corps (forerunner of the Air Force) out of high school.
He spent twenty-five years in the Air Force including a tour in Viet Nam where he earned a Bronze Star Medal. During this time he also raised a family and earned several degrees while moving every few years between postings. After the Air Force, he worked for the FCC, GSA, GAO, as a consultant and as a teacher before his final retirement.
He was known for his dry wit and his love of dogs and was usually surrounded by several canine members of the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Llewellyn and Sophia Llewellyn; his sisters, Helen Llewellyn, Mary Robertson,and Christina Llewellyn; and his brother Jack Llewellyn.
Jim is survived by his wife, Regina; their son James, his wife Virginia Barrett and their two children Jacqueline and Jessica; their daughter Patricia Llewellyn and her son Rhett; and their daughter Cynthia King and her husband Frank King.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, December 28 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00- 8:00 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Bear, DE on Thursday December 30, 2010 at 11:00am.
