James Francis Krause was born on November 29, 1964 in Wiesbaden, Germany to John Newton Krause II and Judith Ann Carpenter. He died on October 5, 2013.
Jim, also known as Grimace, is an alumnus of St. Mary's College of Maryland. He worked as a software engineer for various companies in the Baltimore/Washington area, most recently, KEYW Corporation.
Jim was a devoted and giving husband, father, brother, son and mentor. Jim could often be found playing and watching sports, including lacrosse, golf, and field hockey. His love for sports could be seen in the passion and enthusiasm of his coaching. He was a positive influence to young girl athletes in Severna Park, coaching his daughter's many lacrosse and field hockey teams. He has been an avid lacrosse player since middle school and played for Aberdeen High School, St. Mary's College of MD, and the Annapolis Lacrosse Club.
He was an instant friend to all those he met. Jim leaves behind many friends who will always remember his easy smile, witty banter and overwhelming compassion for others. His life was a wonderful adventure including a rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon, sailing with an off-shore sailing team, and many family trips to Disney and the beach. Along the way, he touched many people's lives. His sudden passing leaves a big hole in many hearts and he will truly be missed by his family, friends and everyone who was lucky enough to have met him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Anne Krause, and his two daughters, Sarah and Megan. He is also survived by his father John N. Krause II and two brothers: John N Krause III, nieces Maya and Georgia; and Steven Michael Krause married to Karen Krause, with nephew Conor and niece Sydney.
