James W. Hawkins, a resident of Sunrise in Severna Park passed away peacefully on March 4, 2021.

Jim was born to Delia (Hennessey) and Gerard Hawkins on June 30, 1930 in Norwood, Massachusetts. He was reared in Norwood and moved to Severna Park, Maryland to marry Jean Rogers in 1956. After rearing their children, they went on to live in Whispering Pines, NC, Berlin, MD and Easton, MD before making their way back to Severna Park.

Jim graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1952 and entered Officer Candidate School of the U.S. Navy. He served on the destroyer USS Lafffey during the Korean Conflict until 1956. He joined the Chesapeake and Potomac telephone company where he worked until his retirement in 1984.

He was a devoted father and husband and had many lifelong friends. He enjoyed Golf, sailing, traveling, and singing.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers Gerod (Jerry) and Edward and wife Jean after 63 years of marriage.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Spence (Steve) of Westminster, MD; his daughter, Patricia Parsons (Dave) of Severna Park; his son, James Hawkins, Jr. "Jimmy" (Sherry) of Severna Park; his grandson, Nicholas Spence of Wesminster, MD.

A very special 'Thank You!' to the wonderful staff of Sunrise in Severna Park and associated caregivers that took loving care of Jim for several years. You are all truly a blessing from God!
