Green
August 12, 1930 – March 26, 2020
James William Green, 89, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2020. He was born on
August 12, 1930 to William and Rexie Green in Kansas City, Missouri. In the 1950's Jim
served our Country as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. He later became
interested in sales and worked as District Sales Manager for Lyon Metal. After a long
career with Lyon Metal, Jim became the owner of Young & Watson, Inc. in 1989 and
was actively selling library furniture until 2015.
Jim was a member of The Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago Freemasons and was also
involved in The Boy Scouts of America. Through-out his life, Jim enjoyed traveling,
sailing and singing. During the last few years of his life, Jim really enjoyed going out to
eat at local restaurants and having a beer with friends, as well as gardening and
arranging flowers.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Lois, and is survived by his daughter, Carol Doering,
and his son, Nick Green, along with 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
On March 30, 2020, Jim will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Park during a
private service with a military honor to take place at a future date.
