James Eagleson Flewellyn (Jim), 88, of Arnold passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD on Tuesday March 27, 2018. He was born on July 3, 1929 in Baltimore MD to Lillie Mae (Harris) Flewellyn and Edgar Merle Flewellyn.
Jim attended the Robert Poole Middle School #56 in the town of Hampden in Baltimore City.
He married Sylvia Mae Chewning on July 7, 1951 at the Chapel on Charles Street in Baltimore, MD.
Jim then went on to serve overseas during the Korean War as a Military Policeman from 1951 – 1953. Upon return he was employed at the Baltimore Gas & Electric company where he held various positions including Supervisor of the hauling & rigging department. Jim retired in 1988 after 43 years of service.
Jim was an avid auto enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories about his numerous car deals. He enjoyed his retirement watching the wildlife from the comfort of his back porch.
Jim was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Broadneck Lodge #2608 and the Howard L. Turner American Legion Post 276.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sylvia Flewellyn, his daughters Beverly Smith, Donna Long and his son Jamie Flewellyn as well as his beloved 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A., Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. A Service of Life and Resurrection will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 78 Church Road, Arnold. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
