IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Colombo,
Sr.
September 23, 1939 – October 20, 2024
James Colombo Sr, beloved husband of Christine Colombo, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024 with his family. James was born in Milton, New York – the son of Eugene and Annie Colombo. He married his wife Christine on May 11, 1963, and recently celebrated over 61 years together. Jim and Christine lived most of their married life in Severna Park and Millersville, Maryland where they raised their children and enjoyed their grandchildren.
Jim was a devoted family man whose life revolved around his family, extended family, and friends. He was an accomplished mathematician, computer scientist, and program manager. His love of problem solving and critical thinking was truly special, enabling him to mentor and help those he loved. He was most loved for his hearty laugh, sense of humor, work ethic, and generous spirit. Jim encouraged everyone around him and was always a source of strength and wisdom. He loved helping others and would drop anything anytime to provide assistance or support.
Jim's love for adventure took him across the globe on numerous occasions. After high school, he joined the US Air Force and learned to work on airplane radars. These skills set the foundation for the rest of his life. After his honorable discharge from the Airforce, he worked in the private industry where he was selected to maintain some of the first mainframe computers, while simultaneously putting himself through college. After a successful career in the private sector, he transitioned to the service of his country yet again and became a civilian employee with the Department of Defense. Retiring after a distinguished career, he spent his later years continuing to travel with his wife and children.
Jim is survived by his wife, Christine, his daughters Stephanie (Tony) and Pamela (David) , his son James (Debora), his grandchildren Kristen, Michael (Katie), Jacob (Trinity) , Kendall, and his great grandchild JJ.
