James John Cain, Jr., 76, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 after a brave, year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Baltimore on September 28, 1938 to Mary Kate Rogan and James John Cain, Sr. He attended the Shrine of the Little Flower for grade school, Baltimore Polytechnic High School, and received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Maryland. After serving in the Air Force, Jim had a 41-year career with the National Security Agency until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he returned to the NSA as a government contractor. He truly loved being a part of the agency community.
Jim enjoyed reading, travel, and cooking. He loved being with his family and friends, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jim was a rock for his family and his country. He was a patient, kind person that lived his life in service of those around him.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Ann Jaworsky Cain; his son Sean Cain and his wife Jessica Cain; his daughter Erin Barlag and her husband Phillip Barlag; and his three grandchildren, Ethan, Everett, and Harper Barlag.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 9:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N Bestgate Road, Annapolis.
Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center with a note for Dr. Daniel Laheru's Pancreas Cancer Research; 401 N Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21287.
