James A. Bennett, 70, of Severna Park, MD, passed away on July 26, 2018. He was born in England on June 26, 1948 and was raised in Vienna, Austria. Before moving to Severna Park, he previously resided in Detroit, Michigan. James worked for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Comission. After retiring from there, he worked part time for the American Legion. In addition to the American Legion, he was also a member of the Elks and the Moose lodges. He enjoyed photography and was a member of a photography club.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Bennett of Severna Park, MD; his mother Gerda Klauza of Arnold, MD; his daughter Michelle Bennett of Bowie, MD; his step-children Samantha Weiszhaar, of Severna Park, MD, and Jeff Koehn of Severna Park, MD; his grandchildren Conner, Avery, and Ethan Weiszhaar, and Ryan Koehn of Severna Park, MD.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park funeral home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. An American Legion service will be held at 7 PM during the visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service to Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD, 21035. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
