Jacquelyn Marie Gunning (nee Friedel), 82, a resident of Severna Park, MD, died of cancer on July 10, 2009 at her home.

She was born on October 7, 1926 in Baltimore, MD, where she was raised.
Mrs. Gunning received her bachelor of science in Biology from the Notre Dame of Baltimore and she was a homemaker.

She enjoyed the New York Times Crossword Puzzles, playing bridge and was on a bowling league.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Col. Thomas I. Gunning, USMC, who died in 1988 and her late son, MSgt. Michael D. Gunning, U.S. Army who died in 1997.

Survivors include her four sons, Stephen P. Gunning of Venice, CA, John F. Gunning of Severna Park, MD, Brian J. Gunning of Severna Park, MD and James G. Gunning of Red Lion, PA; three daughters, Mary Kristan Gast of Pasadena, MD, Theresa Lynn Gunning of Annapolis, MD, and Kathleen Ann Gunning of Louisville, KY; her brother, George A. Friedel of Towson, MD; eleven grandchildren and three great granddaughters.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, July 19 from at 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Avenue, Millersville, MD 21108.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 1030am, family and friends may meet at Arlington's Administration Building.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made at the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
