Jacqueline Ann Bryne, 66, died of pancreatic cancer May 5 at her home in Severna Park after a brief illness.

Mrs. Byrne was born Oct. 19, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lived in Quantico, Va., until moving to Severna Park in 1969. She was an administration assistant in the science department at Anne Arundel Communty College.

A longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, she was an avid reader who loved classical music and working at the college.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Byrne; two sons, Marine Col. Brennan T. Byrne of Boiling Springs, Pa., and Shannon P. Byrne of Severna Park; one brother, Robert Sommer of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Mary Nieman of Virginia Beach, Va.; and six grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Loretta Sommer.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401, or to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.
