Jack Barnett Shelton, 87, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2015 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

He was born in Perryville, Arkansas on May 24, 1927. Following overseas service in the Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1947, he married Margaret Beth Short in 1950, earned a degree in journalism from the University of Central Arkansas in 1951, and embarked on a varied and fruitful career as a newspaperman, university public relations director, and publishing company owner in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. He moved to Arnold in 1989, continuing his love of photography and serving his Savior in local churches. He enjoyed family gatherings, travel, gardening, and flying light aircraft.

He was wholeheartedly devoted to God and to family and friends, and his love, wisdom and humor are greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; children Becky West, Susan Smith and son Jack; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is at Barranco and Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park on Friday, May 15, 4-7 p.m. Funeral services at South Shore Baptist Church in Crownsville are Saturday, May 16, 11 a.m. (viewing one hour prior).
