James Ford Wilson 12/17/22 - 10/30/15
James "Ford" Wilson of Severna Park passed away from cancer at Anne Arundel Medical Center on October 30, 2015. Ford was born in Houston, Mississippi on December 17 1922. Ford served our country in the U.S. Army from June 1943 - February 1946, and deployed to Europe and the Philippines during WWII.
He received his Chemical Engineering degree from Mississippi State University in 1947. He worked for FMC Corporation from 1947-1987 and held numerous management positions in New Orleans, LA, Jacksonville, FL, Philadelphia, PA and Princeton, NJ. After retirement, Ford continued to stay active as a volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and SCORE. He also held a trustee position on the Chemdyne Site Trust Fund, an EPA superfund cleanup effort from 1987 to 2013.
Ford was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ella Mae Wilson. Ford is survived by four children, Dianne Roberts (husband Terry), Larry Wilson, Kay Anderson (husband Bill), and Mark Wilson (life partner Karen McCoy), as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ford was married to Ruth Shelley for seven years until she passed away in 2010. Ford had been a resident of Sunrise of Severna Park since 2011.
Ford enjoyed sailing and traveling, and was an active member of Olde Severna Park Improvement Association, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with family.
Friends may visit on Wednesday November 4, 2015 from 4-7:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Services will be held on Thursday November 5, 2015 at 11:30am in the Woods Presbyterian Church 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD
In lieu of flowers, Ford's family asks that a donation be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122, or the Alzheimer's Association.
