J. Fred Hawkins Jr., M.D.

On August 26, 2008, J. Fred Hawkins, Jr., M.D. 89, of Sarasota, FL formerly of Severna Park, MD beloved wife of 35 years, A. Doris Hawkins,
his daughter, Judith L. Doody of Chesapeake Beach, MD; his sons J. Craig of Nantucket, Mass., and Frederick A. of Salisbury, MD; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his wife Lynne; and his son
Wiggo K. Anderson.

He was a graduate of Baltimore City College, class of 1937, Johns
Hopkins University, class of 1941, and Johns Hopkins Medical School, class of 1944. He served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Japan during 1946-47.

Dr. Hawkins was a board-certified general surgeon practicing in
Annapolis, MD. He was chief of surgery for 10 years at Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis, MD and also chief of staff for one year.

He was a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American
Medical Association, the American Society of Abdominal Surgeons, Med Chi and the Anne Arundel County Medical Society.

He was a 25 year member of Rotary International, commodore of the Chesapeake Bay Rotary Yacht Squadron, a more than 30 year member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, a member of the Maryland Historical Society, the Sarasota Yacht Club and the Sarasota Power Squadron.
