John Timothy Bellis went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2022. He was born March 5, 1939 to Walter S. Bellis, Jr. and Catherine Morsberger Bellis, the second son of eight children. He was born and raised in Catonsville MD, where he would raise his own family as well years later. He graduated from the Baltimore County Fire School and started as a "blue shirt" fireman in November, 1961. He became a fire lieutenant several years later. He worked at Station 4 (Catonsville) for 30+ years and retired in 1992.

Tim met his soon to be wife, Nancy Lynn Fones at Catonsville High School where they both graduated in 1959. As the story goes, Tim asked Nancy to marry him on their second date! Clearly they were meant for each other and were married at Catonsville United Methodist Church on December 3, 1960 - Tim was 21 and Nancy was 19. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 2021. Tim and Nancy were blessed with 5 children, two of whom preceded him to heaven: Karen, their first daughter (8/1961- 9/1961) and Kimberly, their third daughter (1/1967- 9/1984). His three surviving children are Elizabeth (Amy) and husband David Williams; John and wife Leslie; and David and wife Beth. Tim was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by his five grandchildren, Rachel, Abigail, Hannah, Sarah Williams and Delainey Bellis.

He was preceded in death by siblings Mary (Bellis) King; Walter S. Bellis III, Catherine (Bellis) Gearhart and survived by Deborah (Bellis) Rinker; Rebecca (Bellis) Valentine; Jane (Bellis) Ayres and Edward William Bellis. He is also survived by a loving extended family of many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Above all else, Tim will be remembered for his great love for his Savior, Jesus Christ and how he extended that love and kindness towards all the people he encountered in this life.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at Catonsville United Methodist Church, 6 Melvin Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228. Internment immediately following the service at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229.
