Ida Theodora Yurek (nee Matczuk), 89, a resident of Severna Park, died on September 1, 2011 at her home.

Ida was born on October 16, 1921 in Baltimore and raised in Baltimore City. She attended Patterson Park High School. She was married on January 21, 1940 and moved to Grogan Avenue, then resided in Parkville in Baltimore County in 1956.

She was a homemaker. She was a former member of St. Ursula's Roman Catholic Church and currently a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Severna Park.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and cooking.

Mrs. Yurek was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester G. Yurek, who died on January 28, 1997. After his passing, she moved to Cape Arthur in Severna Park to live with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris V. Griswold of Severna Park; her son, George S. Yurek of Flint, MI; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park 21146.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Baltimore.
