Howard P. Johnson, 92, of Severna Park, died of natural causes Sept. 16 at the Heritage Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 1, 1914, in Baltimore, Mr. Johnson was reared in the Druid Hill Park section of the city and was an "A" student at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Johns Hopkins University.
During World War II, Mr. Johnson worked at the Edgewood Arsenal, receiving two government "E" awards for his improvements in cartridge design.
He managed Middleton and Meads Co., a large truck repair firm, from 1945 to 1988.
He was a member of the Baltimore Country Club.
In 1939 he married Margaret Proctor Rodgers Johnson, who died in 1961.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia H. Johnson, whom he married May 31, 1966; one son, Howard P. Johnson Jr. of Upper Marlboro; two daughters, Mary Joanna Johnson Robey of Severna Park and Barbara Johnson Palmer of Sherwood Forest; three stepsons, Richard James Troja of Berwyn, Pa., Michael Alan Troja of Wilmington, N.C., and Roger Daniel Troja of Lusby; one step-daughter, Sharon Troja Derr of Towson; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lloyd and Clinton Johnson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
