Horace Patrick Martinez Jr. passed away on August 13, 2024.

He was born on August 9, 1930 to Horace Patrick Martinez Sr. and Anita (neé Oreila) Martinez in Mingo Junction, Ohio. Horace grew up in Mingo Junction and attended Central Catholic High School. He was raised Catholic, and his faith was important to him throughout his life. Horace served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1948 to 1952.

While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. he met the love of his life, Mary Huzey, and the two were married in Weirton, WV in April of 1951. After his time in the Marines, in 1959 the couple moved to Arnold, MD. Horace began his career working at Bushe's Chesapeake Inn and later managed Howard Johnson's restaurants along the East coast. He enjoyed cooking and reading in his spare time.

Horace is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Martinez, his parents Horace P. Martinez Sr. and Anita Martinez, his sister Elanore Lopez, and his brother Robert Martinez. He is survived by his sons Michael P. Martinez of Yakima, WA and Fernando F. Martinez of Jessup, MD; his daughter Michelle L. Giordano (David) of Severna Park, MD; his granddaughter Rachel E. Giordano of Glen Burnie, MD; and his brother Richard Martinez of Atlanta, GA.

He will be laid to rest on Friday August 30th, 2024 at 11:30am at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road Crownsville MD, 21032.
