Henry W. Swanke, Sr. 91, of Arnold, Maryland passed away peacefully at his eldest grandson's home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 with his family by his side.

Henry was born on January 1, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland and was the youngest son of John Edward Swanke and Hilda Marie Martin.  Henry was a beloved brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Henry otherwise known as Bill was a master plumber who absolutely loved the Baltimore Orioles.  Bill also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, eating steamed crabs, playing cards, cheering for the Baltimore Ravens and always enjoyed watching a competitive boxing match.  Bill liked relaxing on his front porch watching the boats pass by on the Magothy River and listening to big band music.  Most importantly Bill loved spending quality time with his family where he enjoyed telling stories of the past and family vacations to Ocean City.  Anyone who knew Bill knew he was a kind and gentle man who always enjoyed a good laugh.

On June 12, 1948 Henry married the love of his life Catherine Alberta Hasloop of which they were married for 53 years until her passing on July 28, 2001.  Henry and Catherine had two children of which he is survived by his daughter Cathy A. Sarchiapone and son Henry W. Swanke, Jr., six grandchildren Frank, Shane Sr, Wayne, Matt, Nicole and eight great-grandchildren, Troy, Ty, Natalie, Alyssa, Shane Jr, Cole, Brooklyn and Bryce.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9:00 PM at the Barranco & Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 12:00p.m. in the  Community United Methodist Church, 8680 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. The interment will follow the funeral service at Loudon Park Cemetery.
