Helen Tzimoyannis of Arnold, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8
th
, 2017, in the arms of her daughter, Caterina Borg.
Helen was born on July 12
th
, 1932 in Cairo Egypt. She was of Greek descent, but lived in Egypt her whole life prior to her marriage. Helen spoke 6 languages and as a young woman, worked and travelled as a governess for the Mosseri and Smouha families.
After leaving Egypt, she lived in Sao Paolo, Brazil and Melbourne, Australia. She arrived in the USA in 1974, and worked for a short time for the Australian Embassy in Washington DC, and subsequently with the American Federation of Government Employees, until her retirement in 1992.
As a young woman, Helen devoted her life to her parents and siblings. When she married, her love and devotion extended to her children, Caterina Borg, Barbara (Matt) Conkrite, her granddaughter, Charlotte Conkrite, husband (Stylianos Tzimoyannis) and her many friends.
Her kind, gentle and selfless ways defined her entire life. She quietly helped many families during difficult times in their lives, by providing respite, comfort and lovingly prepared meals. She supported those who were suffering in all ways: emotionally, spiritually, physically and even financially, by helping to find jobs for those who needed them. She always sacrificed her own needs, to ensure that others had what they needed. Everyone who crossed her path instantly fell in love with her kind, respectful, soft spoken and generous nature.
Helen lived her life with God's message on her lips and His light in her heart. She will be missed by all who remain, including her children, and her beloved youngest sister Despina (Daisy) of Melbourne Australia.
Godspeed…until we meet again.
