Helen Shilland, 95, of Annapolis, died Feb. 10 at Millenium Healthcare Annapolis.
Born March 28, 1911, in Litchfield, Ill. Mrs. Shilland was reared in Detroit, Mich. She attended Cass Technical High School, studying art, and also later studied occupational therapy. She worked as a doctor's assistant and was a branch manager for a savings and loan, both in Detroit.
She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteers Program for Anne Arundel County, was a guest reader at Windsor Farms Elementary School and volunteered for various activities at College Parkway Place. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading and music.
Her husband, William A. Shilland, died in 1990. Surviving are one daughter, Carol Lee Shilland Howell of Seattle; one son, William Shilland Jr. of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Henry Lee, Warren and Lyle Maxey.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 31 at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Broadneck Public Library, 1275 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis, MD 21409.
