Helen C. Roe (nee: Skelton) "Sue", 77, a longtime resident of Severna Park, died at her home on January 17, 2012, due to complications from a stroke on New Year's Eve.

Helen was born to her parents, Thomas and Helen Skelton on November 18, 1934 in Baltimore, where she was raised. She graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore in 1952. She was a homemaker and later worked for the Anne Arundel County Health Department.

Mrs. Roe was a Girl Scout Leader for over 12 years and was an active member of St. Martin's in the Field Episcopal Church, where she was involved with the Episcopal Church Women. She enjoyed spending summers at the Severn River Swim Club, gardening, the beach, traveling with her family and hosting holidays for her family.

Mrs. Roe was preceded in death by her husband, Winfield Scott Roe, II who died in 2000. She is survived by her son, Winfield Scott Roe, III of Severna Park; her daughters, Diana Herr (Vince) of Arnold, Laura McMullen (Ross) of Fallston, and Susanne O'Neill (late Steve) of Severna Park; her son, David Roe of Severna Park; her brother, Thomas Skelton of Amsterdam, NY; her grandchildren, Jacob, Ben, Bobby, Vince, Jeremiah, Alec, Paul, Janie, David, Alli, Erica, Andrew, Emily and Steven Jake; as well as, two great grandchildren, Ryan and Camryn.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 20th from 5-8 pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00pm at St. Martin's in the Field Episcopal Church, 375 Benfield Rd. Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will be in the Church Memorial Garden, with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church to benefit Haiti Relief or Paul's Place.
