Helen Markey, 77, of Pasadena, died of natural causes Jan. 3 at North Arundel Hospital.
Born July 5, 1927, and raised in Westover, Pa., Mrs. Markey previously lived in Alexandria, Va. She married Charles Markey on Oct. 26, 1943, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Homemakers Club and AGLOW. Her interests included cooking, baking and gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, William Markey of Glen Burnie, Charles P. Markey of Kent Island, Wayne C. Markey of Kingsville in Baltimore County, Linda K. Brown of Ashton in Montgomery County, Richard R. Markey of Pasadena and Ronald D. Markey of Ridgely; two brothers, Michael Sass of Cleveland and Frank Sass of Catonsville; four sisters, Kathryn Pullman of New York, N.Y., Martha Kitchen of Finksburg, Edna Curry of Littlestown, Pa., and Janet Finch of Sykesville; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
