Helen M. Hodgkins, 82, a long-time resident of Round Bay in Severna Park, Passed away on December 2nd, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.

Helen was born in Amesbury Mass on February 7, 1941. She was a graduate of Haverhill Mass High School and The Concord Hospital School of Nursing, Concord NH.

Helen grew up in Newton NH and was active in the church and 4H. She loved to ski and sail and was very active in golf and tennis. Her greatest joys were her family, friends, gardening, reading, and playing cards.

Helen's career included Staff Nurse positions at Exeter (NH) Hospital, Portsmouth (NH) Hospital, a Clinical Allergy Nurse and extended service at NSA. At NAS she became Board Certified as an Occupational Health Nurse and served as Nurse Manager in successive positions. She served as Chief, Occupational Health Services at Menwith Hill, Yorkshire, England, and Executive Officer, Medical Clinic, Bad Aibling, Germany. Helen was also a certified Hazardous Materials Technician, a certified American Red Cross Instructor of CPR and standard first aid and was a member of the National Cryptology School Adjunct Faculty. During her career she received many awards and acknowledgements.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Sarah Marden, and brothers John and Donald Marden. She is survived by her husband Skip of 61 years, sons Scott (Chris) and Steven (Vercie), daughter Elizabeth (Henry), Brothers James (Clara) and Charles (Kathleen) and grandchildren Chelsea, Charles, Caroline, Genevieve, and by marriage; grandchildren Jon, Ian, Joseph, Stephanie and Nicholas, and greatgrandchildren Josh, Jake, and Jon Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
