Helen Falten
Helen J. Falten, 89, of Severna Park, died of natural causes June 24 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park.
Born Oct. 24, 1917, and reared in Throop, Pa., Ms. Falten previously lived in Washington, D.C., South Bend, Ind., Greenbelt and the Belle Meade community of Landover Hills in Prince George's County. She was a stenographer in the General Accounting Office for the federal government and for several area schools.
She was a member of the Belle Meade Homemakers Association, Ladies of Charity and Sodality of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Landover Hills. She enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, crocheting and bowling.
Her husband, Barnard T. Fallen, died in 2001.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Louise Bailey of Lanham, Elizabeth Schultz of Larkspur, Colo., and Joan F. Somers of Severna Park; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary and Anna Parana.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Throop, Pa.
