Helen S. Courts, 103, of Pomona, Calif., died of pneumonia Sept. 21 at Inland Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pomona after a brief illness.

Mrs. Courts was born on Feb. 13, 1903, in Monkton and reared in Parkton in northern Baltimore County. She lived in Govanstown, Towson and Baltimore for more than 50 years before moving to California 25 years ago. After high school she worked as the chief freight agent for the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.

She was a lifelong member of Govans-Boundary United Methodist Church and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star.

The widow of Albert Earle Courts, she was the mother of Dr. Donald E. Courts of Vallecito, Calif., and the sister of Elizabeth Cronin of Annapolis. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Druid Ridge Cemetery in Pikesville. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Govans-Boundary United Methodist Church, 5120 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212.
