Helen Fiore Brown, 82, resident of Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, Maryland, died on March 25 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring. MD.

She was born in New Kent County, VA on August 7, 1930, daughter of Clinton Jesse Pomeroy and Bessie Crump Pomeroy. In 1952 she earned a bachelor's of science degree from Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU). Following graduation, Helen became the first woman chemist to be hired by Phillip Morris. After raising her children she developed an interest in accounting and eventually became a CPA in the state of Virginia.

Survivors include three daughters, Catherine L. Fiore and her husband Reich Watterson of Lexington, MA, Marian F. Porter and her husband John of Severna Park, MD and Susan R. Fiore and her husband Mario Amata of Dublin, OH; two sisters, Irene Starkey of Orlando, FL and Lou Eberhard of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren, four step children, Diana Taylor of Decatur GA, Peter Brown of Virginia Beach, VA, Susana Brown and Linda Brown of Aroda, VA, and two step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent C. Fiore in 1993 and by her second husband Richard N. Brown in 2002. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Edith Harper and brother Clinton J. Pomeroy Jr.

Helen and Vince raised their children in the Richmond area of Virginia, first in Glen Allen and then in Bon Air. They relocated to Wintergreen, VA after their retirement. Following Vince's death, friends introduced her to Dick Brown. They married in 1998 and lived happily in Wintergreen until Dick's death. Subsequently she moved to the Riderwood Village retirement community in Silver Spring MD.
