Hazel Naomi Brown, 85, of Severna Park, died peacefully on May 11, 2010 at Futurecare Chesapeake in Arnold.
She was born Hazel Naomi McCulloh on September 8, 1924 in Baltimore, where she was raised. Hazel graduated from Eastern High School. She was married on November 9, 1946 to Charles L. Brown and lived in Baltimore until 1955, when their family moved to Pasadena, MD. In 1967, their family relocated to Severna Park.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Brown was a substitute elementary school teacher for Anne Arundel County Schools. She was an active member of the Pasadena United Methodist Church, where she prepared a history for her church. She also worked in the Sunday School Office, was in charge of the Craft Table at the Annual Bazaar, and served on various committees for her church. Hazel was past-president of the United Methodist Women's Society. She enjoyed traveling and toured all of the National Parks in the United States.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, Hazel is survived by her daughter, Katherine A. Fowler (Steve) of Severna Park; her granddaughter, Pamela Duncan of Pasadena; her grandson, Steven Fowler (Jamie) of Pasadena; her great granddaughter, Alexis Duncan; her sister, Audrey Selfridge of Baltimore; and her brother, Alfred McCulloh of Laurel, MD.
A visitation will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. 21146. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 at the Pasadena United Methodist Church 61 N. Ritchie Hwy. Pasadena, MD 21122. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
