Harven G. Kraus passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 29 th at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 85. Harven is survived by his wife Jacqueline of 63 years, sons Ronald and Clifford and sister Anna Mae Wunderly, daughters-in-law Heather and Ellen and five grandchildren Noel, Theodore, Kevin, Peter and Olivia.
Harven was born and raised in Shaler Township, Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Shaler High School. Harven received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh which he attended on a wrestling scholarship and competed on the varsity wrestling team for four years. Following his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh Harven served 3 years in the US Army and was stationed at U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Harven and Jacqueline lived in nearby Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Harven worked his entire career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation (now Northrop Grumman) in Baltimore, MD as a mechanical engineer and developed many aerospace systems for domestic and international customers. He traveled to many countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia as part of his career supporting international business development. His hobbies included tennis, fishing, travel, boating and helping his sons with their home improvement project.
