Harry Robert McArdle, 80, of Annapolis, died of heart failure Dec. 23 at his home.
Mr. McArdle was born March 3, 1924, in New Kensington, Pa., where he worked at Alcoa. He also worked for Hercules Inc. in Cumberland, Chesapeake Instrument Corp. in Shady Side, which later became Gould Inc. in Glen Burnie, and at Honeywell in Annapolis.
During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged on disability.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 622 in Annapolis, American Legion Post 226 in Mayo, the Disabled American Veterans in Annapolis and the Maryland Salt Water Sport Fisherman's Association. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed boating and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Louise McArdle; three sons, Richard Terry McArdle of Pasadena, Alan McArdle of Baytown, Texas, and Kevin McArdle of Dayton, Texas; three daughters, Jacqueline Gwen McArdle of Cape St. Claire, Sharon Belt of Baytown, and Debra Flora of Houston, Texas; one sister, Jacqueline Brokaw of Altoona, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Patricia Gancas and Gladys Walker.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 30 at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
