Harry Melvin Danley, 87 of Arnold died Friday Nov. 22, 2008 at Baltimore
Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Danley was born in Wheeling, WV and after service in the war moved
to the Annapolis area where he met and wed Rita (Ford) Danley. They
purchased a home in Arnold where they married and lived happily for nearly
50 years. Mr. Danley, "Chick" as friends knew him, had many jobs in his
lifetime. He started earning money by working in a nail factory and later in
life became very skilled in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. Chick
spent the remainder of his years of employment working for Annapolis
Utilities and United States Naval Academy.
Chick loved downtown Annapolis and was regularly seen at the historic Sam
Lorei's Tavern and "The Pool Hall" on Main St., while waiting for his wife
to get off of work at Milton's Shoes and then Stadiger's Shoes. He loved
spending time on the water in his boat along with his wife and lifelong
friends Helen and Albert Shiroky. The foursome were considered the
Ricardo/Mertz's, known for their good times and loving friendship. Chick
was a Life Member of Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department and The
American Legion Post #175.
Several "extended family" members who loved him very much survive Mr.
Danley. Mr. Danley's life was made more fulfilling and complete by two
very special people. Barbara Smith and Dorothy Majerowicz were his
guardian angels, taking care of his every need following the passing of his
wife nearly 7 years to the day of his passing. Together, Barbara and
Dorothy worked tirelessly through hospital stays, rehabilitation and
homecare. Two stepsons, John and George Ford, predeceased Mr. Danley.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated in his name at Earleigh
Heights Vol. Fire Department P.O. Box 547 Severna Park, MD 21146.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday 11:30am.

Interment: Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
