Hans Koczinski, 65, a resident of Severna Park for 18 years, died May 31 in his home.
Mr. Koczinski was born Sept. 29, 1942, in Goettingen, Germany. He lived in South Salem, N.Y., Los Angeles, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz.
He worked for Carl Zeiss Inc., a German manufacturer of precision optics, for 37 years, retiring in 2001.
A firm believer in the value and support of Alcoholics Anonymous, he recently celebrated 10 years of continuous sobriety. He worked with Habitat for Humanity and was involved in outreach programs serving the recovery community. During his years in Germany he served as a volunteer fireman.
Survivors include his companion of eight years, Nancy Fohrell; two daughters, Anja Einseln of Alexandria, Va.; and Nina Bedworth of Syracuse, N.Y. ; and one granddaughter.
A memorial gathering will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Holy Grounds Youth Center, 617 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Arundel Habitat for Humanity, 273 D Peninsula Farm Road, Arnold, MD 21012; to the Chrysalis House, 1570 Crownsville Road, Crownsville, MD 21032; or to Severna Park Community Center, P.O. Box 691, Severna Park, MD 21146.
