Halim Ozkaptan, a husband, father, grandfather, friend and a great man passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 2, 2022 at the age of 92 in Arnold, Maryland. Halim Ozkaptan, aka, Dr. Oz, was born on June 3, 1930 in New York City. Halim's parents, Mehmet and Rukiye, immigrated from Turkey in the 1920s. Halim met Elinor, his high school sweet heart at the age of 16 years old. They never left each other's side since. For over 70 years, Halim and Elinor built their life together in Arnold and were blessed with four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Halim earned his PhD in Psychology and much of his career focused on human factors engineering and the development of aircraft cockpits and simulators for the military. Many of his cockpit designs are used today to include the aircraft heads up display (HUD) found in many modern jets. Halim authored several books ranging in topics from raising resilient children to developing courage and fortitude in our U.S. military fighting men and women. Halim has touched many lives and always offered a helping hand, guidance and wisdom to his friends and family.
Halim will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts and memories.
