Beloved husband, father, and friend Guy Stephen Deitz passed away on December 31, 2014 at approximately 9:30 PM at his home in Glen Burnie, MD.
Guy was a Maryland native, growing up in Pasadena MD and attending Severna Park High School. He went onto attend the University of Maryland with a football scholarship playing defensive guard. He played for Maryland for the next four years participating in the 1973 Peach Bowl and the 1974 Liberty Bowl. His success for the University continued long after he graduated in 1974 with a football technique being named after him called the "Magoo Leap".
Guy was also a business entrepreneur starting his own successful masonry business, Guy Masonry Inc., which he had until recently retiring. In his retirement his entrepreneur days did not end as he turned a hobby into a new career launching a cheesecake business called, Big Guy's Cheesecakes.
Anyone who knew Guy knew he was a true foodie. His favorite place was in the kitchen, always preparing delicious food for all his family and friends. He was also a avid outdoors man who loved to go fishing, even ice fishing, and spent every weekend in the fall tailgating and supporting his team at the Maryland football games. Guy was also a musician, playing his guitar for anyone who would listen. He even occasionally played out acoustically entertaining at several local spots.
Guy loved his girls and he was a wonderful, loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Carol and their two daughters, Liza and Wendy.
Guy was the best of the best. He always knew how to light up a room with his sense of humor and kind hearted spirit. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family and friends and he will be so dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
