IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Guillermo G.
Hernandez
October 24, 2019
Guillermo Gerardo Hernandez Torres, known lovingly as "Mimo," passed away on October 24th. Mimo was born in Caracas, Venezuela to Carmen Beatriz Torres and Juan Guillermo Hernandez. He attended Instituto Universitario Antonio Jose de Sucre and Universidad Santa Maria, and worked as a civil engineer and court interpreter for the Maryland Judiciary. He married his beloved wife and best friend, Nelly Velazquez, on November 2, 1990. They raised two children, Valerie Anais Maldonado and Guillermo Vicente Hernandez.
It was clear to everyone who knew him that Mimo's whole world revolved around his family, and most of all, his wife. Nelly and Mimo spent 33 wonderful years together laughing, dancing, traveling, and loving each other completely. He was an adoring grandfather (Papa-Papa), and loved taking his grandchildren on trips and adventures. If you were lucky enough to have known him, he would certainly have shared with you his warmth, positivity, humility, kindness, and generosity. And he would have probably told you some interesting fact about Venezuela, because there was no Venezolano prouder than Mimo. He loved to create delicious meals out of simple ingredients for his family and friends, and paella was his speciality. Mimo was exceptionally talented and creative, and enjoyed building, fixing, and creating things, no matter how daunting the task might seem to others. He loved learning new things, and loved to share his knowledge with others. Mimo was known to all as a kind, gentle, and loving spirit. He loved many and will always be loved by many.
Mimo will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife, Nelly, his two children, Valerie (Ryan) and Guillermo (Mikala), his mother, Carmen Beatriz, his sisters, Eira and Liliana, his grandchildren, Alyssa and Nico, and many aunts and uncles, nieces, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 1-4pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A memorial service will follow the viewing at 4:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
