Griselda (Gail) A. Young, 87, passed away May 13, 2011, at her home in the Hyatt Classic Residence in Plantation, Florida. Before moving to Florida to be near her daughter, she and her husband resided in Severna Park for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Young was born June 28, 1923, in Copenhagen, Denmark. She came to the United States with her parents at age 3 and was raised in northern New Jersey.


She met her future husband during a visit to a girlfriend whose family had moved to Maryland and is survived by her devoted husband Chester R. Young. They would have celebrated their 70th Anniversary in August.


Also surviving her is a daughter, Carol Ann Marcin of Ft. Lauderdale, a son, David R. Young of Salisbury, two grandsons, four great grandchildren, and a sister, Edna Schmidt, of River Edge, New Jersey.


Mrs. Young was a homemaker and a partner in C.R. Young Co.


She enjoyed sewing, cooking and most of all being a mother.


A memorial service will be held at a later date at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Interment was private.
