Grace Garnett Sutherland (Homens), age 88, of Severna Park passed away at Baltimore Washington Medical Center January 31, 2024.

Grace was born April 6, 1935 in Baltimore, MD to the late William August Homens and the late Ruth Suzanne (Sheppard) Homens.  Loving sister, affectionately known as "Dolly" she was preceded in death by siblings Ruth McHugh, Florence Schrenk, Mildred Neat, Lorraine Harting, William "Bud" Homens, John "Jack" Homens and Ernest Homens.

Grace is preceded in death by her loving husband James Blakeney Sutherland; sons Randolph A. Sutherland, Douglas E. Sutherland and loving grandson Cameron P. Maloney.  She is survived by her children William R. Sutherland (Darla), India K. Sutherland, Ralph C. Sutherland (Amy), Donna Marie Sutherland (Randolph), David J. Sutherland (Donna); and grandchildren Daniel A. Maloney, Andrew C. Maloney, Sarah Isenberg, Jack L. Sutherland, David J. Sutherland Jr., Amanda R. Reidenbach, Carley Sutherland and Sarah Rose Sutherland.

Affectionately known as "GG" she is survived by great grandchildren Pepper, Fox, Lydia, Otto, Riley, Owen, Grady, Finley, Marcia, Vincent, Michael and Aiden.

A 61 year resident of Cape Arthur, Grace raised her family in their waterfront family home overlooking the Magothy River she so loved.  A homemaker she devoted herself to what she loved most, her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and a sunny window where she groomed her many orchids, violets and cactus plants. Grace volunteered her services for many years supporting those in need at the North County Emergency Network (NEON), election time she served her community working at the polls.

Grace was a member of the Jenkins Memorial Church where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed time spent with her church family, most especially working beside her church ladies in the kitchen, the annual cookie walk, Christmas Bazaar and making Easter Eggs.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 1 - 4 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 11 am in Jenkins Memorial Church, 133 Riviera Drive, Pasadena, MD  21122. If you are unable to attend the service, you can view the livestream by clicking this link

Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Glen Burnie, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Jenkins Memorial Church Youth Program.
