Grace Habermacher

Grace C. Habermacher, 91, a resident of Severna Park since 2006 and formerly of Abington, Pa., for 49 years, died of natural causes Nov. 25 at home after a brief illness.

Born July 8, 1916, in Riviera, Texas, Mrs. Habermacher was reared in Kleberg County, Texas, and was also a past resident of Kingsville and Corpus Christi, Texas, Oxnard, Calif., Memphis, Tenn., and Springfield, Va.

Mrs. Habermacher was educated at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas, during the 1930s. She taught both fourth and fifth grade at various schools, retiring in Abington, Va.

She was a member of PEO Sorority and Grace Presbyterian Church in Abington and her interests included gardening, needlepoint, ceramics and vacationing in Hawaii, Spain and Portugal.

Surviving are her husband, Andrew Lee Habermacher, whom she married in 1937; one son, Andrew Lee Habermacher Jr. of Crofton; one sister, Frankie Lou Patillo of Kingsville, Texas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Michael Ernest Habermacher, who died in 2001; and sister of the late Emert, Van and Nona Crocker, Loretta Mitchell and Viola Fenner.

Funeral services and burial are private.
