Gould Bisbee (Buzz) Macintire, 61, of Severna Park, died Sunday, Feb. 1 at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
Mr. Macintire was born Sept. 15, 1947, to the late Bradford B. and Elvira S. Macintire.
After graduating from Severna Park High School, he was in the Navy and was an accomplished member of the dive team. He had been accepted as a member of the Underwater Demolition Team, but was withdrawn when he first contracted Hodgkin's disease in the 1960's.
As a lifetime resident of the Round Bay community where he lived in his childhood home, Buzz was fondly known as "Captain Gould B." because he was licensed to serve as a ship master for charter boats. In addition, he was often seen taking others out fishing and crabbing on the Severn River.
Mr. Macintire demonstrated his concern for youth by working as a baseball and gymnastics coach as well as a referee for high school volleyball games.
As a faithful attendant of Asbury United Methodist Church, he served on finance committee. In addition, he also attended Paw Paw United Methodist Church where he was a strong supporter of the Rev. Nancy Ward Memorial Mission House.
Survivors include two brothers, James Macintire of Trappe, and Bruce Macintire of Jarrettsville; one stepbrother, Dean Robinson of Bristol, R.I.; one stepsister, Amy Constantino of Peabody, MA; his devoted friend, Debra Hathorne of Arnold; and three nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Asbury-Arnold United Methodist Church, at 78 Church Road, Arnold.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Rev. Nancy Ward Memorial Mission House, P.O. Box 493, Paw Paw, WV 25434; or Asbury United Methodist Church, 78 Church Road, Arnold, MD 21012.
