Gloria Mae Swisher (neé Sinyard) passed away on December 10, 2024. She was 91.

Gloria was born on February 2, 1933 in Washington D.C. to Frederick and Catherine (neé Brown) Sinyard. She grew up in Seabrook, MD and attended Seabrook Elementary and Bladensburg High School. She married the love of her life, Glenn Swisher, in February of 1955. Throughout her life she lived in Glenn Dale, MD, Bowie, MD, Annapolis, MD, and Silver Spring, MD, before moving to Severna Park, MD.

She worked at Citizens Bank in Riverdale, MD from 1949 to 1959 and at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School from approx. 1978 to 1998. Gloria was a lifelong Methodist, a member of the United Methodist Women and most recently attended Severna Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, crafts, reading (especially Danielle Steel books), building and renovating houses with her late husband, and most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Myers (Craig) of Severna Park, MD; her granddaughter Rebecca (Paul) of Christiansburg, VA; her grandson Riley of Severna Park, MD; her great grandson Luke of Christiansburg, VA; her great granddaughter Sarah of Christiansburg, VA; and her sister Churalene Bice of Silver, Spring, MD. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Swisher.

A funeral service for Gloria Swisher will be held on Friday, January 3 at 10:00 AM, at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 14900 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715. Internment in the columbarium will occur after the service. Lunch and fellowship will follow.
