Gloria Elizabeth Selckmann, 77, of Crownsville, died of natural causes Oct. 25 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie after a one-week illness.

Born on April 15, 1928, and reared in Baltimore, Mrs. Selckmann worked as a church secretary for Ascension Catholic Church in Halethorpe.

She formerly was an active member of the Arden Recreation Association, the Ladies of Arden, the Arden Civic Association and the Herald Harbor Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 6½-year breast cancer survivor.

An avid Orioles baseball fan, she also enjoyed being on the water, crabbing and spending time at the beach.

Her husband, William Selckmann, died May 26.

Surviving are three children, Janet A. Selckmann Johnson of Glen Burnie, Paul T. Selckmann of Stevensville and Karen A. Selckmann of Annapolis; two grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Mariam A. Merriken.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, where burial will follow.
