Virginia “Ginny” Cameron, pioneering business leader, third-generation steward of a family company, devoted mother and grandmother, and one of the most respected figures in the insulation industry, passed away on June 11, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was 73 years old.

Born on May 1, 1953, in Washington, D.C., Ginny was the daughter of Walter and Vee Shipe. She grew up in Potomac, Maryland, where she developed the caring spirit, strong work ethic, and determination that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from Winston Churchill High School and went on to graduate from Sweet Briar College, experiences that helped shape the confidence, intellect, and independence that became hallmarks of her personal and professional success.

Ginny lived a life defined by perseverance, leadership, integrity, and an unwavering devotion to both her family and her profession. Her warmth, infectious smile, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Whether she was mentoring a colleague, serving her industry, or spending time with family, Ginny led with grace, humility, and strength.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Walter and Vee Shipe, and her brother-in-law, Reuben Brown. She is survived by her sons, Scott Cameron and his partner, Sarah, and Andrew Cameron; her cherished grandchildren, Anna Cameron, Colton Cameron, and Kenzie Cameron; her sisters, Jan Brown and Linda Leasor; her brother-in-law, Gary Leasor; her nephew, Chris Leasor, his wife, Erica, and their family; and her niece, Katie Leasor-Erwin and her husband, Chris. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, colleagues, employees, industry partners, and mentees whose lives were enriched by her friendship, guidance, and example.

Ginny’s professional accomplishments were extraordinary. As CEO and third-generation leader of Cameron Group, a family business founded by her grandfather, she carried forward a legacy spanning more than a century. While many family-owned businesses struggle to survive beyond the second or third generation, Ginny not only preserved the company her family built—she strengthened it, expanded it, and positioned it for future generations.

In an industry historically dominated by men, Ginny earned respect through hard work, intelligence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Long before women in construction and business leadership became commonplace, she established herself as a trusted and influential voice among industry leaders throughout North America.

Under her leadership, Cameron Group achieved significant growth and recognition. The company was named among the Baltimore area’s fastest-growing businesses and earned a place on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies. Cameron Group also received numerous business and industry awards, reflecting the culture of excellence and innovation that Ginny fostered throughout her career.

Her impact reached far beyond her own company. Ginny served as President of the Insulation Contractors Association of America (ICAA), becoming the first woman to lead the organization. She also served as Secretary of the ICAA Board of Directors, helping guide the association through periods of growth and change. In recognition of her outstanding contributions and leadership, she received the association’s highest honor at the time, the Key Man Award. The standing ovation she received from her peers reflected the immense respect she had earned throughout the industry.

Ginny was also instrumental in the founding and development of Insulate America. From its inception in 2000, she faithfully served as Secretary of the Board of Directors and remained one of the organization’s strongest advocates. She devoted countless hours to advancing opportunities for independent contractors and strengthening the future of the industry she loved.

She often reminded those around her, “We are doing this for a generation of people we may never meet, so we have to get it right.” Those words reflected how she approached both business and life. Ginny believed in building something lasting, investing in people, and creating opportunities for those who would follow.

Yet for all of her professional accomplishments, Ginny’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother who treasured every opportunity to celebrate milestones, share stories, and create memories with those she loved. Her family was the center of her life, and her love for them was evident in everything she did.

In addition to the family and friends she cherished, Ginny shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Bo, whose companionship brought her comfort, joy, and unconditional love.

Few individuals leave a legacy that spans family, business, and an entire industry. Ginny Cameron did exactly that. Her influence can be seen in the success of the company she led, the organizations she helped build, the people she mentored, and the family she cherished.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Atreeum at Soaring Timbers, 610 N Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD.
