Gerard Klein

Gerard Joseph Klein, 66, of Severn died of cancer Dec. 2 in his home after an illness of one year.

Mr. Klein was born June 5, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and lived in Silver Spring and Lincoln, R.I., before moving to the county 25 years ago. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from St. Mary's Seminary in Roland Park.

A senior finance officer, he worked in the finance department of Rolls-Royce Naval Marine for 26 years.

He served as music director for Divinity Lutheran Church in Towson for two years, for St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Pawtucket, R.I., for five years, and for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park for 18 years. He was also on the board of directors for the Paul Hill Chorale in Washington, D.C., and was a member of both the Annapolis and Baltimore chapters of the American Guild of Organists.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Mary C. Peroutka; two daughters, Kyra C. Klein of Pittsburgh and Kristin M. Klein of Severn; two step-daughters, Kristin E. Weisman of Lutherville and Maureen K. Weisman of Severn; two sisters, Lois Klein of Phoenix, Ariz. and Mary Lynne Good of Eightyfour, Pa.; and one granddaughter.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Christian wake will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.

Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
