Gerald Thomas Jackson, 77, of Severna Park, died of heart failure May 10 at Baltimore Washington Hospital Center.

Born June 9, 1928, and reared in Scranton Pa., Mr. Jackson graduated from the University of Scranton. Previously a resident of Rockville and Long Island, N.Y., he came to Severna Park in 1991.

He was vice president of marketing for GEICO Insurance Co. before retiring in 1989 after 38 years with the company.

From 1946 to 1948 he served in the Army. He was a member of the Kiwanis and the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed spending time at his second home in Bethany Beach and was an active volunteer with Partners in Care in Severna Park.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church where he was a marriage preparation minister. He also helped family and friends with financial planning.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and had visited Africa, Thailand, Japan, Panama, Scandinavia, Tahiti, Hawaii, Ireland and Europe.

The widower of Ann Jackson, he is survived by his wife, Sandra O'Connor Jackson; his children, Gerald T. Jackson Jr. of Wappinger Falls, N.Y., Patricia Jackson Babcock of Elkridge, Kathleen A. Jackson of Catonsville, Timothy B. Jackson of Lusby and Donald P. Jackson of Olney; one brother, Donald T. Jackson of Portsmouth, Va.; three stepchildren, Kevin B. O'Connor and Erin O. Jacobs of Severna Park and James G. O'Connor of Easton, Pa.; and 22 grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville. Burial will be private.
