Gerald G. Smoot, 65, a 42 yr resident of Glen Burnie, died on November 21, 2015, at his home, after a five month battle with lung cancer.
He was born on February 15, 1950 in Lynchburg, VA and raised in Beltsville, MD. He previously lived in Annapolis.
Gerald served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam War and worked as a roofing contractor.
He was an avid golfer, loved playing poker with his family, and watching his son and grandsons play sports.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty V. Smoot (nee Alexander); son, John T. Smoot of Millersville and daughter-in-law, Carrie Smoot; grandsons, Kyle T. and Chase J. Smoot; brother, John R. Smoot of Adelphi; and a host of other family members.
Family and friends may attend a Memorial Visitation on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in MD Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, in Crownsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122.
